Tips for a big night at Hove

A stellar night of action is set to get underway at 6.08pm at Hove this evening with two fantastic Category One finals on the card - the Coral Sussex Cup final at 7.49pm over 515m and the Premier Greyhound Regency final over 695m at 8.24pm.

The Coral Sussex Cup decider is a cracker with reigning Coral Olympic winner Proper Heiress lining up from trap two having retuned to competitive action, winning his heat and semi-final in fine style. He lines up against one of the most consistent greyhounds in training in Slick Sentinel, who has made yet another big-race final for Patrick Janssens and Keith Allsop.

Alongside them in trap three is another course specialist in Queen Shakira, who finished third in the Brighton Belle final back in April, as well as Chelms Bear, Quill Quids and Ower Mystery. This all depends on how Proper Heiress traps. If he traps level he will lead and win and there is no reason to suggest that will not be the case, but he does need to avoid Ower Mystery on his inside who is likely to move off.

If things do not go to plan for Proper Heiress, it can suit Slick Sentinel, who is extremely well drawn with five railers inside him. If he leads he will be extremely difficult to pass with Chelms Bear and Quill Quids looking to pick up the pieces. Queen Shakira needs to somehow clear Proper Heiress and Ower Mystery, who must use the draw inside to his advantage if he is to produce a shock.

I am with Proper Heiress to lead and make all to continue his domination in the four-bend scene in the UK.

The Premier Greyhound Regency is a five-dog affair following the withdrawal of Garfiney Blaze in trap one. That could pave the way for Romeo Steel in trap two to get loose and hold on from the likes of Mongys Wild, with Art Riddler staying on. Droopys Invent in five needs to try and cheat the draw again to lead and make all, with Bombay Nutty extremely well drawn in trap six.

Similar to the Sussex Cup final, this entirely depends on what kind of run Mongys Wild gets into the race. He is the best stayer in the country by some way and if the gaps appear for him at the right time, it does not matter what is in front of him as he will pick them off one by one.

Romeo Empire should lead on the inside but that could also give Mongys Wild a perfect run into the race as he now should get a clearer run with no Garfiney Blaze, so as long as Mark Wallis’ charge gets the run required, he should go onto win comfortably to possibly give his trainer a big-race double at the Sussex venue this evening.

King Memphis kicks off the card at 6.08pm and he should not make any mistakes against his rivals in the Coral Finals Night Standard over 500m.

Shadow Storm can put last week's heat defeat behind him by taking the Coral Sprint final at 7.16pm, while Salacres Belleza can pick up where she left off nine days ago by getting the better of Ower Smasher in the Coral Finals Night Marathon over 955m at 7.33pm.
