Thursday Night Tips- Fenwick could take all the beating in both Newcastle competitions
Newcastle this evening hosts the semi-final’s of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat and the Premier Greyhound Racing Angel of The North and it could prove to be a good evening for trainer Jimmy Fenwick as we take a look at both competitions.
The first semi-final of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat could, on paper, prove to be a match between Glenn Foot’s Jacktavern Chief and Tom Heilbron’s Deliveroo. Both runners were winners of their respective heats last week with Jacktavern Chief going a length quicker than Deliveroo. Jacktavern Chief also produced the better break from the traps, and if he can produce a similar break again, then he could get first run on his rival and could prove tough to reel in if that’s the case.
The second semi-final see’s Fenwick’s Elusivenomore, who made all the running in good fashion and will look to repeat that performance again here, in what looks to be the most competitive of the three semi-finals. That was his first race for a month and may be able to come on from that run, if that’s the case, he could take the beating. However, the likes of Derby semi-finalist Droopys Bookem is sure to be staying on well late, and Tom Heilbron’s runner is unlikely to be far away, not forgetting John Flaherty’s Naochra, who has been a narrow margin runner up in his last two starts and if coming away well, he may not be a million miles away at the finish.
Heilbron looks to have solid claims of landing the third semi-final with Unanimous Leon, who made all the running at 4/9F in the heats last week and another fast start here on the rails could see him away and gone. Brian Fairbairn’s Slingshot Shaz ran an eyecatching race in defeat in his heat last week when finishing runner up and a clearer passage could see him going one place better.
The semi-finals of the Arena Racing Company Angel of The North feature earlier on in the card and Jimmy Fenwick looks to have claims of landing all three of those contests. Coppice Saphire was well fancied when overcoming trouble in running to lead rounding the final bends in her heat and she looks the one to beat in the first semi final. Kennelmate Bluebell Teddy is on her inside and could lead on the rails but if Coppice Saphire can turn in a decent position, then she can again prove too strong late.
Fenwick again has a couple of runners in the second semi-final where Skeard Josie looks to have the better claims of scoring in this field having done well to qualify last week after finding trouble in running, but Nathan Hunt makes the long journey up from Cambridgeshire and it could be a worthwhile one as Bridefort Lady will look to follow up last week’s heat victory with success here. She stays on well and a clear run early could see her reel in the leaders.
Ballymac Camilla is another who will be staying on well in the later stages for Fenwick but may have to play second fiddle to Heilbron’s Dominoh Hoo Hoo, who led for a long way before picked up late by Bridefort Lady last week, but can improve on that performance here and if able to lead again, then she could take all the beating in the third semi-final. Glenn Foot’s Emilys Superstar is another who can stay on well in the later stages and may not be far away at the finish if the gaps can open for her at the vital times
