Joe's Derby undercard tips

As well as the Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby semi-finals we have five other competitions that have hit the semi-final stage.

We kick off with three semi-finals of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Sprint Trophy. Semi-final one at 6.01pm can see Madabout Peck in trap six come on for last week's third by getting the better of Broadway Murty who can finish ahead of Shadow Storm reversing last week's form. Not So Slow should justify his short price favouritism in semi-final two at 6.17pm and at 6.35pm Newinn Souly, who was very impressive in the heats last week, can make it two from two by beating Tullymurry Kane in semi-final three.

Up next are the two semi-finals of the Greyhoundtrader.com Stakes where the two best drawn dogs look set to go well. Trap six Racenight Mikey who was well supported and rightly so in round one can use the draw outside five railers to his advantage by taking semi-final one at 6.51pm with another trap six this time in Flashing Fender also taking advantage of being drawn outside five railers to win semi-final two at 7.10pm.

The British bred greyhounds are next up with two semi-finals of the BGBF Truframe Champion Stakes. Semi-final one at 7.28pm has thrown up a cracker with the top three in the market Keefill Goose, Romeo Steel and Queen Shakira all lining up against each other. I am with Romeo Steel who, if trapping level from trap four, has the early pace to lead and hold on from the aforementioned pair who can both qualify behind him. 7.46pm sees semi-final two where Fabulous Livia looks well drawn in trap three to lead and make all. She is in good form behind the likes of Romeo Steel and Keefill Goose in recent weeks and with Fabulous Sonique drawn outside her in four, she can use that to her advantage to dominate from an early stage.

Two cracking 712m heats are next with the Betgoodwin Derby Challenge Trophy semi-finals taking place. At 8.06pm the progressive Vhagar who stepped up to the distance last week in fine style can follow up by taking a competitive race with the strong running Deadly Disco and TV Trophy second Alright Patricia chasing her home to qualify. Semi-final two at 8.22pm looks a Savana domination with track record holder Savana Jackpot taking on newcomer Savanaregimental who looks designated for good things. I am with Savanaregimental as there is more to come from him and if getting first run on his main rival he will not be for catching with Savana Jackpot chasing him home.

Before the Derby semi-finals we have the two semi-finals of the Pricedup.Bet Derby Plate. Ante-post favourite and recent track record breaker Lennies Desire is extremely well drawn with five railers inside him in semi-final one at 8.39pm to follow on from last week's facile success with semi-final two at 8.57pm looking a straightforward assignment for Val Tashadelek from the red box who is a different dog when drawing trap one.
