Joe's Friday Tips

***7.27 Romford - Whitewood Lenny (3pts) 2/1
**8.36 Romford - Funky Ryan (2pts) 5/4
*9.46 Romford - Droopys Metaphor (2pts) 7/4

Friday night opens at Romford with two minor competitions getting underway with recent Coral Coronation Cup Winner Fabulous Sonique back at her favourite track.

The nap of the evening runs in the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard Heat Two at 7.27pm where trap six Whitewood Lenny will look to go one better than his two second place finishes on his most recent competitive starts over C&D. He is capable of comfortably breaking the 24-second barrier when on song and although he needs to clear Racenight Mikey in trap five, if trapping on terms he should do that to go round in front. He beat Untold Tether by over four lengths in a recent trial at Oxford so he has the measure of that rival. A level break for Whitewood Lenny should suffice.

The next best is trap one Funky Ryan in the Gibbo Giants Stakes at 8.46pm over 400m. He is an interesting newcomer with a flying 13.41 sprint trial at Romford followed by a more than satisfactory 24.28 first look over this evening's trip. He has plenty of scope for improvement and being drawn on the inside should see him in front by the second bend as long as he traps well. Crokers Bluebell possesses fine early speed but comes without a look so that can play into the hands of Funky Ryan to get the better of that rival who looks the biggest danger if running the track well first time out.

The third bet of the evening is trap three Droopys Metaphor in the RGOA Winner Of One Standard over 400m at 9.46pm. He was second to Padders Inmotion seven days ago with Le Pur Sang a length and a quarter behind him in fourth but that does not tell the tale. Droopys Metaphor went clear with the eventual winner before being bustled along by the third bend with the gap eventually closing off the last bend. If he breaks tonight he will clear his rivals where I fully expect Le Pur Sang to chase him home in second but if Droopys Metaphor can trap well he should lead and win.

Other selections on the card include Fabulous Sonique in heat one of the Doug Tyler Summer Cup at 7.44pm over 575m and Droopys Rosie can lower the colours of Untold Paanga in heat two at 8.01pm.
