Review of the Monday night open race action from Nottingham

Four open races took place at Nottingham last night with action over the two-bend 305-metre trip plus four-bend races over 480 and 500 metres.

At 7.27 in the Nottingham Maiden Standard Trophy over the 500-metre distance, Swift Home (T4) trapped well, led round and made all in 30.50. The July 23 daughter of Burgess Bucks has won in A4, A3 and A2 in recent weeks and has now broken her open race maiden tag. Bonnie Sues Girl caught the eye in defeat from T3. She moved rails at lid rise and met early trouble. Look out for her in the coming weeks if she gets traps one or two.

At 8.01 the Nottingham Greyhounds Sprint Trophy went to the Jill Llewellin kennel with Leelad who ran from T6. The August 23 son of Sonny attempted to make all but was challenged by Skyfall Ginger (T2) into the first bend. Leelad managed to win by a head in a photo finish recording 18.21. Leelad was sent off at 8/1 with Skyfall Ginger at 11/4, the forecast paid £41.40; Well done to those who found that one.

The second heat of the Nottingham Greyhounds Sprint Trophy went to Kinsley raider Rental Crisis (T3) from the David Fradgley kennel. Starting as the 1/2 favourite Rental Crisis paced up well into the first corner and lead round with Heathmill Nidge from T2. Off the final bend there were head-to-head with nothing to separate them. Rental Crisis stuck out his neck and took the victory.

At 8.54 in the Nottingham Greyhounds 480 Trophy open race, Jetstream Breeze led at the third and won in 28.57. The Peter Holland-trained railer went off at 1/4 and backers never had a moment's worry as he went on to win by over five lengths.
