Swindon Tuesday Night Open Race Report

Doubles landed for the Angie Kibble and Robert Short kennels.

At 7.16 the Blunsdon Maiden Stayers open race over the six-bend 682-metre trip went to odds-on favourite Eagles Respect who made all in 41.45. Sent off as the 4/9 favourtite the Angie Kibble-trained July 23 son of Tommy Shelby made light work of the opposition, making all and winning by six lengths. Eagles Respect trapped well and was a length clear at the first bend. He kicked for home and was three clear at the winning line the first time round and recorded a 15.35 sectional. The result was never in doubt after that, and it was a clear victory for this promising six-bend prospect.

Division B of the Blunsdon Standard over the four-bend 476-metre trip at 8.07 went to the Angie Kibble kennel again with Eze from T6. Ontherun Eden trapped well from T2 and attempted to make all. Eze nipped up the inside at the corner using excellent track craft and hit the back straight a couple clear. At the winning line the distance was over five lengths in 28.18. Those that took the 11/8 on off never had a moment's doubt once Eze hit the front.

Division A of the Blunsdon Standard at 8.24 went to the Robert Short kennel with Cul Na Braithre hitting the front late on to land the prize. Newinn Sharky attempted to make all from T2 but Cul Na Braithre (T1) was within striking distance and the writing was on the wall off the final bend as he hit the front and went on to win in 28.20, rewarding those that snapped up the 5/1 on offer from bookmakers.

Invergarry (T6) made it two from two over the six-bend 682-metre trip at Swindon when he led off the second bend and took the Blunsdon Stayers open at 8.41. The Robert Short-trained October 22 son of Kinloch Brae paced up well into the first bend following a moderate break and hit the front off the second corner and powered clear to land the race in 41.52.

Elsewhere, on the card we also saw wins for Private Kate (T2) in A7 company. On only her fifth run Kate made all in 29.01, that's a nice run from the August 23 youngster. Dreamin Ringo took the D2 graded sprint race at 6.42 in 15.70. A little later on, Magical Be Bold impressed in the A5 at 7.49 when the youngster led at halfway and went onto record 28.96. She looks the type to go through the grades in the coming weeks.
