Time Juvenile Derby Betting Update
The first-round heats of the Time Juvenile Derby took place last Friday at Shelbourne Park with eight heats in total.
The competition was due to start a week earlier, but the meeting was postponed due to high temperatures.
Ballymac Tibet, trained by Liam Dowling, went quickest in the first round, making all in a flying 28.12 following a 2.10 sectional. The August 2023 son of Ballymac Best is available at 10s for outright honours. Ballymac Stud heads the market at 7s with Glengar Silent is next in at 8s. The November 2023 son of Droopys Sydney stays on in taking fashion and looks a top prospect for the Pat Buckley kennel.
The second-round heats of the Time Juvenile will take place this evening with the semi-finals on Friday, August 1 and the final on Friday, August 8.
Outright betting (BoyleSports)
Ballymac Stud 7, Glengar Silent 8, Droopys Painting 8, Carrick Scholsey 8, Ballymac Tibet 10, Toolmaker King 12, Ballymac Mint 12, Montana Shadow 12, Droopys Faithful 14, Ballymac Lake 16, Zenith Mikmacker 16, Made To Measure 16, Sunshine Sioux 16, Slingshot Poppy 16, Droopys Slick 20, Unanimous Leon 20, Patterdale Timmy 20, Rural Pest 20, Solo And Go 25, Magical Keith 25, Happy Jet 33, Getup The Boy 33, Lamrock Ace 33, Zenith Gizmo 40.
Heat one this evening at 8.42 looks an intriguing event with plenty looking to lead round. Made To Measure (T2) showed nice early pace in the first-round heats and looks well-drawn to do so again this evening. The Liam Dowling-trained wide seed Ballymac Mint (T6), who is available at 12s for outright honours, could be the one to challenge the Made To Measure down the back straight.
Patterdale Timmy (T1, 8.57) showed nice pace on Shelbourne Park debut last week in the first-round heats and, with improvement to come from the September 2023 son of Ballymac Cashout, he looks a major player this evening. Ballymac Tibet won by over three lengths in a quick-away-made-all success last week and looks like a player from T5.
Heat three of the Time Juvenile at 9.12 will see outright favourite Ballymac Stud (T1) take on Droopys Painting from T4. Both can show blistering early gears, so this race is all about the break. Don’t rule out recent Sunderland Arena Racing Company Puppy Trophy winner Slingshot Poppy from T5. The October 2023 youngster roars into the corner and would be a runner on the bunny.
The fourth and final heat this evening at 9.27 will see Carrick Scholsey line up from T3 taking on Magical Keith from T6. This looks like a wide-open event and all eyes will be on the break. Who will book their place in next week’s semi-final and lay down a marker for outright honours?
