Sunday Open Report – Valley, Towcester and Star Pelaw


The Valley open stayers at 11.13 was won in impressive style by Droopys Nijinsky (T1) in 41.48, rewarding those that took the 1/2 on offer from bookmakers. Jackies Princess finished second, a length and a quarter behind the winner. 


The Valley Maiden Sprint at 12.04 also went to favourite backers with Crokers Bluebell (T3) making all in 16.02, winning by over five lengths from Pandy Sid. 


The Valley Maiden Standard open race at 1.12 went to Seeking Time from T4, who recorded a quick-away-made-all success in 29.06. Starting as the 5/4 joint favourite the June 2022 son of Burgess Bucks held off a late challenge from Affleck Nashwan to take the race by just over a length. 


The final open race at 2.03 was won by the favourite with Hawkfield Scar (8/11) leading late on to take the Valley Sprint at 2.03 by three quarters of a length in 16.19. 



 

Brown and Wallis double at Towcester

Miltons Dream (T3) started as the 1/5 favourite in the Towcester sprint and the Michelle Brown-trained runner made light work of the opposition, bolting up by five lengths in 15.57. The second of the Brown double on the card saw Gun Slinger (T4) take the Towcester Standard at 3.11 over the four-bend 500-metre trip in 28.96 to reward those that took the 7/4 on offer from bookmakers. 


Mark Wallis continued his good form, following on from Saturday evening's PRG Regency and Coral Sussex Cup wins at Hove with a Towcester double. Pavillion Team (T5) made all in the Sprint open at 4.07, clocking 15.60 at 10/11f. While Strike It Skye (T1) bolted up in the Towcester Maiden, making all in impressive fashion, winning by seven lengths in 28.93 at 4/7f. 


Elsewhere, on the card we also saw wins for Bank Of Granda (T5) in the Stayers open race at 5.21 making all in 42.80 at 10/11f. While Tax Evader late on in the Standard open at 5.39 to deny Rebel Pine who attempted to make all. Tax Evader (5/4F) clocked 29.11 with the official winning distance recorded as half a length. 




Star Pelaw open report  


Over at Star Pelaw a competitive mixed card took place with races over two, four and six bends. 

At 6.29 in the Star Pelaw 245 Sprint Trophy, odds-on favourite Space Captain (T3) pinged the lids and made all holding off a late challenge from Birtley Hoopstar, who finished second beaten a neck in 14.56. 


The Star Pelaw 590 Stayers Trophy at 6.46 saw even-money favourite Yates beaten into third with Westfield Vicky (T6) winning well at 4s. 

The April 2022 daughter of Good News clocked 36.62 following a quick away 14.69 sectional and went on to win by three quarters of a length with Dairyhill Suzi back in second. 



The 7.04 Sprint open went to Mags Star (T3) at 3s with favourite Bitzer Maloney in second at 2s. The winner clocked 14.47, recording a one-length victory. 


In the Star Sports 435 Maiden at 7.24 all eyes were on the Tom Helibron-trained youngster Open Debate, who lined up from T3 as the 4/6 favourite. Toonrlee pinged the lids from T6 but as they approached the winning line Open Debate hit the front to record a short head victory in 25.76. 


The 435 Maiden Trophy at 7.42 saw a shock with Neills Knock recording a three-and-a-half length victory in 26.15 at 16s. Savana Flamma finished second at 8s from T6. The forecast paid £156.31, well done if you found that one. 


The Star Sports #Bettingpeople Standard at 7.58 was won by Mossend Max at 12s with Ballinabola Eva finishing second at 6/4. Max clocked 25.65 following a smart 5.39 sectional. 



Dreamin Porcha (T1) was sent off as the 4/6 favourite for the Star Pelaw Ladies Trophy open at 8.16 and this result was never in doubt as she smashed the lids and went onto record a four-and-half-length victory in 25.43 with Smell The Bucks back in second from T5. 



Savana Pink (T2) took the Sprint open at 8.34 was a quick away success in 14.38 while the final race on the open race on the card was also won by the favourite with Wonderful Ollie taking the 590 Stayers Trophy in 35.82 with a dominant display leading off the second bend taking the race by a length and quarter.
