Paul Burr doubles up in BetGoodwin Pall Mall Trial Stakes
There was open race action up and down the country last night with the pick of the contests at Oxford.

Bacon Roll lays down Pall Mall marker
A 10th open race win of the year for Bacon Roll set the standard in the Pall Mall trial stakes on Saturday night at Oxford. A 3.87 split saw her clear from an early stage and it was game over for her opponents from there.
Trainer Paul Burr would double up in the trial stakes with Yahoo Lolls also doing the business. She was not as quickly into stride as her kennelmate but she was still able to get her head in front at an early stage and that was enough to see her home.
It was very nearly the Richard Yeates show, picking up a win with Clona King. He did things the hard way on a night where those on the sharp end were proving tough to pick up. Yeates would have a pair of short head runners-up in two of the other heats.
King Jackson was the shortest price of all the trial stake winners for Liz McNair. In the messiest race of the night, he held off the Yeates-trained Crossfield Niall. Easy Molly was Yeates's other narrow defeat, just failing to pick up Rachel Hill's Jackos Dog. Hill had a maiden winner earlier on the night with Rossa Coco who got off the mark in open company at the first time of asking.
The sole six-bend contest of the night saw Alright Gordy justify a short price for David Lewis. Over a distance on the short side for him, he picked up Salthill Sydney late on, a smart performer over 650m himself.
Kevin Hutton got his name on the scoresheet with Dreamin Francis. Three of them were separated by a quarter of a point in the market but a slick exit meant that the contest was nothing like as wide open on the sand. Aero Pepinillo was the final winner of the night, landing the money for Richie Taberner.
Taberner takes the Monmore plaudits
There was an open race double at Monmore for the Richie Taberner team to go along with their Oxford success. Both came in sprint contests with Aero Pattika and Holding Harry coming home in front. It was just the second race for the former since the Northamptonshire Sprint at Towcester back in February with the latter on the open race scoresheet for the first time since January.
It was the 630m distance that saw the other two opens on the card. Champys Girl was the quicker of the pair for Ellie Field with Farneys Wexford taking the other for Kevin Boon.
Pin All In back to winning ways on home sand
Five opens on the Yarmouth card were highlighted with Pin All In scoring for Lauren Sawyer. Pin All In and Heres Ringo have produced five of the top seven 659m times between them this year, with a short head separating them on Saturday.
Crossfield Finn was fastest over 462m. Mark Newberry's charge was having just the fourth start of his career and making his Yarmouth race debut, produced a 27.58 run. That has slotted him into the top 20 times of 2025.
Laugh Alot for Jane Craske and Carrigoon Wes for Kevin Cobbold picked up 462m open wins while Irene Barnard took the other staying contest on the card with Headford Rose, breaking her open race duck.
Fradgley's remarkable 2025 continues
A Doncaster double on Saturday for David Fradgley saw the Kinsley trainer break thorough the 20 open race winner barrier. There are just 23 trainers in the country who have sent out more open race winners than the Fradgley team.
Stonepark Wes and Rental Crisis were the pair to get their heads in front for Fradgley. Wes had missed almost three months of race action after a strong start to the year, he is 5/10 in opens so far in 2025. Rental Crisis moved to Fradgley in April, winning seven of his 10 starts since then, including five straight at open level.
One of those trainers ahead of Fradgley is Phil Milner who landed the other open on the card with Keefill Goose. He has six wins in eight runs at Doncaster this year, including four of the top six times over 450m and the fastest 483.
