Joe's Saturday Tips

A busy Saturday with open racing up and down the country. I'm concentrating on Monmore this evening with both ante-post and heat by heat picks for the PGR Golden Jacket.

Ante Post Selections

Newinn Cloud 33/1

Magical Luna 40/1

Lamorna Lexi 50/1

Mongys Wild 9/2

Heat By Heat write-ups

The Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket kicks off tonight at its new home Monmore Green over the underused, extended six-bend 684m distance.

Heat one at 6.31pm, I am going to take a chance on Lamorna Lexi in trap one who has winning form at this track and trip if you look far enough back. She has returned to racing following a break between February and April with a run at Towcester over 500m and 650m at Oxford so should be improving for each run and I am going to be with her at a big price to get the better of Bombay Nutty and Baywatch Bullet.

Mongys Wild can get his campaign off to winning ways by dominating heat two at 6.48pm. He comes here on the back of a six timer including demolition jobs in the TV Trophy and a trial stakes last week beating Haka Carlo by just under thirteen lengths. He re-opposes this evening alongside Alright Patricia and Millridge Tanic who both come here on the back of the Hunt Cup Final at Oxford.

The third heat can go to track specialist Magical Luna who can get the better of Newinn Cloud and Hunt Cup hero Hogans Hawk. She ran well behind Deadly Disco last week who got loose so although I think Hogans Hawk will lead, this could be a big stretch for her so fancy Magical Luna and Newinn Cloud to pass her with Magical Luna coming out on top.

Heat four is interesting with Ballymac Taylor lining up against Deadly Disco and the newcomer to the UK Savana Regimental who was staying on strongly over similar trips in Ireland before the switch to Diane Henry. Deadly Disco is the one to beat, he has taken to this track and trip extremely well being two from two beating good fields in the process, including Mongys Wild. He can lead and make all with Balymac Taylor and Savana Regimental qualifying in behind.

Heat five can go to Clona Curly who can get the better of Garfiney Blaze. He hasn’t looked himself including a way below par run last week in a trial stakes so I am hoping Clona Curly can get loose early and hold on from the likes of Alright Gordy and Garfiney Blaze if he can return to form.

Grand Prix winner New Destiny can safely qualify for the semi-finals by dominating heat six. She finds herself in the weakest heat where her price will reflect that with Swift Jarvis and Skylars Vision qualifying behind her.
