Irish Performance of the Week
Magical Luka continued his flying form when breaking his own track record over 500 yards at Tralee on Friday night.
Having posted a new best of 26.64 (+10) in the second round, Patrick Guilfoyle’s dog went even better in the semi-finals of the Moorstown Kennels Stakes when winning by eight lengths in a brilliant 26.61 (+10).
The October 2023 son of King Sheeran and Magical Mary went unbeaten through the Carrick Aldo @ Stud ON1/ON2 400 at Dundalk last month and now boasts a perfect career record of six wins from as many starts.
There were several big performances at Shelbourne Park, where Ballinabola Joe won the Champion 550 final, but Ballymac Stud just gets the vote on account of his brilliant debut.
The November ’23 puppy lined up in the heats of the Celtic Cooling Refrigeration & Air Conditioning over 525 yards and produced a stunning demolition job to score by five lengths in 28.12.
Liam Dowling looks to have another smart youngster on his hands in the shape of this son of Droopys Sydney and Ballymac Pete, and he lines up from trap one in the semi-finals this Friday and will clash with fellow smart heat winner Droopys Painting.
Robert Gleeson's dog went only one spot slower when also making a very impressive debut and looks a very nice prospect in his own right.
