Wicky Ned gets his official Derby entry made

Wicky Ned is officially entered

Every morning we get an updated list of entries from Towcester of those who will compete in the 2025 Star Sports Derby. Since yesterday, Jimmy Fenwick has made it official and entered Wicky Ned into the race. We were all expecting it of course. but it is now confirmed that the four-time Category One winner will have his name in the hat for the opening round draw.

He has had a bit of a mixed record at Towcester so far with two wins from four visits. The most recent of those was his Juvenile run when he did not come away anything like as well as he can. He showed up well in a trial prior to that, stopping the clock in a very slick 28.56 off a 4.95 split. He went backwards 21 spots on the sectional alone in the Juvenile which was never going to see him to best effect.

The class is there for him to go deep into a Derby, with the competition wins and the times that he has produced around the country backing that up. Some will take a look at his first round exit last year and that Juvenile run and dismiss him which makes him one of the most fascinating runners in the race this year. 

That draw will be shown live from Towcester on Friday, May 2, with entries closing for the race at 7pm on Monday, April 28. There is still plenty of time for trainers to get their entries in with a trial session on Monday set to shake up both the late entries list and the ante-post markets themselves with some fascinating runners set to be in action during the session.
