Sunday's Tips

*** 2.33 Towcester - Flashing Fender (3pts) 10/11

** 4.44 Towcester - Glory Lord (2pts) 11/10

* 5.21 Towcester - Gripwell Peg (1pt) 7/4

It could be a very good day for the Craig Morris kennel at Towcester. Flashing Fender made the third round of the Derby and won his heat of the Greyhoundtrader Stakes before exiting that competition at the semi-final stage. It is interesting that he didn't get put in a supporting race last night, able to run in lesser company here this afternoon. He will have to be on his toes when the traps open with smart starting Salacres Tipster inside him but that runner should move a little to the left and give the selection plenty of space on the run to the bend.

Another Craig Morris-trained runner who made the third round of the Derby is Glory Lord. He was a little disappointing in a maiden last week but he is worthy of another chance at this level. He was only two lengths behind Cheap Sandwiches in the opening round of the Derby and a repeat of that that form should be good enough. Kevin Hutton has a nice recruit in Kranky Drake who can chase the selection home and shouldn't be too long in breaking his own maiden duck.

Gripwell Peg has been a little frustrating to follow as she has a huge amount of ability but it's been a wait for her to put it all together. She missed out on a spot in last night's bitches final by three-quarters of a length last week, finishing third to her kennelmate Chamberlain Kate who was an Oaks finalist last year.  The pick can lead up the trap three Fabulous Maisie here, track the trap one Maggie Bombastic round and prove too strong for that rival once they straighten up for home.
