The Mark Wallis-trained, MWD Partnership-owned superstar cemented his position at the top of the stayer standings with victory in the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket final at Monmore, going through the competition unbeaten with a total winning distance across the three rounds standing at over 23 lengths. Mongys Wild set a new track record in the semi-final (40.54) and final itself, recording 40.42 with kennelmate Bombay Nutty chasing him home in the final.
During the first round of the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket Mongys Wild bolted up by over six lengths with Alright Patricia chasing him home in second.
Following on the first-round win Mongys Wild then lined up from T2 in the semi-final of the Premier Grehound Golden Jacket at Monmore. Mongys Wild led at the third bend and powered clear winning by over ten lengths in a track record 40.54!
£20,000 was up for grabs in the final and Mongys Wild was drawn in T1, this was all about a clear run. At the first bend Mongys Wild was crowded but turned close, and it was race on. At the fifth bend Mongys Wild hit the front and powered clear winning by over six lengths.
In winning the Greyhound Racing UK Greyhound of the Month award for May, Mongys Wild edged out other nominees De Lahdedah, Cheap Sandwiches, Elusivenomore, Lennies Desire and Sirdar.
Next on the agenda for Mongys Wild is the Fox Sports Surfacing Dorando Marathon on Star Sports / TRC English Greyhound Derby final night at Towcester. At 9.55 Mongys Wild lines up from T3 and will take all the beating over the 942-metre trip.
