Swindon hosts the only Open Race action in the UK this evening, with seven Open’s featuring on the twelve-race card.
The Blunsdon Maiden Sprint kicks off the Open Race action at 6.59pm which could go the way of Trap five Makeadifference. He was narrowly denied by track record holder Dashing Blue last time out and could be the one to beat with a repeat of that performance as there is nothing of that calibre in this field
Angie Kibble is often on the mark in these Tuesday Night Opens, and her Ballymac Pallas could land a first Open Race here as she looks set to lead on the rails and having finished runner up in her last two starts, she could make all and go one place better from Trap two in the 7.16pm contest though Crystal Bruno in Trap three has decent pieces of form at Sheffield in recent weeks and could prove to be a threat.
Rockmount Frank is also looking to land his first Open Race in the 7.33pm. The runner in Trap four is often involved in early trouble but could be in decent position in the early stages here and with the chance of a clearer passage, may have too much for these rounding the final bends, including Trap two Ashway June, who looks to be the likely leader on the rails.
The 7.49pm looks to be tricky little contest but Sallowglen Hope has a cracking looking draw out wide in Trap six with Newinn Sharky in Trap five likely to be heading towards the rails giving him plenty of room and if that’s the case, he could be in a position to hit the front rounding the final bends and could go off at a decent price, while Trap three Only Live One has finished runner up in his last three starts and may not be far away again
Hard Done Boy has won all three of his previous starts, the latest in the fastest time of the year over the 476m distance and despite a tricky looking draw here in Trap three, he can add to his unbeaten record with another all the way success at 8.07pm, though Dapper Ted in Trap one and Eze in Trap five could make his presence felt if up with the pace early
Newinn Bliss has been in tremendous form in recent weeks, winning her last seven starts over this distance and another fast start could see Kibble’s runner out and gone again from Trap six at 8.24 though Trap four Ballymac Zari hasn’t been beaten far by her in recent weeks when not gaining a clear passage, and may not be far away again.
The final Open Race is a six bend contest over 682m at 8.41pm and it could go the way of Trap two Baggios Dilemma. She was a good winner when last seen over this distance when leading round the opening bends and another decent break could see her confirming form with Trap one Ballymac Mags, who has five lengths to make up on that run and may have to settle for the runner up position again.
